Coma after Brain Injury

Help for Families Waiting for Loved One to Wake up from Coma after TBI

By Gordon S. Johnson, Jr.

I have helped those waiting for their loved one to wake up from a coma after TBI for a generation. It started with the website waiting.com. Then I decided to launch a project where we’d hear from people who have survived brain injury. This is where TBI Voices was born.

I listened to the voices, challenges, and struggles of people dealing with brain injury.

The secret to coping with brain injury is that even though it’s difficult, never give up. This was a theme that resonated among the more than 25 people I interviewed.

For the Caregiver of the Person in a Coma

The information on this website can help alleviate the burden of waiting for someone to awake from a coma. This site can provide a connection between those who have suffered in the past and those going through it right now. Every year, we try to work toward this mission to help you not feel so alone and to share the stories of TBI survivors.

Assisting with Coma after TBI

The information on these pages also come from the survivors of brain damage. Not even a coma can silence the voices of these brave survivors. Coma can alter who you are, but it does not necessarily determine who you will become. It does not change someone’s essence, only changes their approach to the future.
